Family-Lab is an international organization for support, counselling and competence development within families. Family-Lab is primarily in dialogue with the 85% of parents who are coping well and where the parents are engaged, curious, searching for better ways and “constructively insecure” when faced with conflicts, problems and other difficulties.

For decades the debate about how to best raise children has been stuck between the authoritarian style of parenting and the “laissez faire” and there has been far too much focus on the mere behaviour of children. Family-Lab is representing a “third way” focusing on the quality of life within the family – i.e. for parents, couples, children and first and foremost: the relationships between members.

Since the breakdown of the traditional hierarchy in families and the moral consensus in society parents and other young adults have been busy re-inventing marriage and the art of raising children. Along with an explosion of knowledge and new insights in science and research we are confronted with a crucial existential question, “How do we transform our emotional love and commitment into loving behaviour?”

The choice for parents is either to subscribe to simplified models or methods – most of which are aimed at controlling children’s behaviour – or try to become parents from within and become the parents they would like to be. Family-Lab does not believe in simplified methods but in principles and values such as personal integrity, equal dignity, responsibility and authenticity.

Based on forty years of experience in family therapy and family counselling and closely following especially modern brain science Family-Lab is offering parents space, inspiration and guidance in their search for a firm ground to stand on. Family-Lab is a meeting point for partners, parents and professionals – a “laboratory” where the family of the future is being moulded.

Family-Lab offers seminars, lectures and counselling based on the work of Danish family therapist and author Jesper Juul along with prominent professionals within each country.

Family-Lab also offers seminars and education for professionals as well as family oriented services for industry and companies.
